It’s taken me 22 months to find a home for this story that I’ve always believed was worth telling. It’s finally been accepted by an online magazine that agrees. I hope you do too. https://www.unlikelystories.org/content/bush-rescue

Suspenseful and well-worn throughout! Bravo!

Thanks so much, Liz. After this amount of time it’s become well-worn as well. 🙂

Cool beans, Doug. It read like a movie, that is I could see the world weary hero and the tired drought stricken land. Congrats on getting this story out there.

Many thanks, D. The problem for many editors seemed to be that it was set in Australia and making the insulting assumption that US readers only want to read stories set in the US.

Many thanks, Brian. You would be surprised how many editors thought the idea wasn’t credible, hence it taking 2 years to find a home for it. 😉

I would have thought Harold Holy would have been a convincing precedent and I remember, by chance, bumping into Gough Whitlam and entourage while wandering around Green Island when the Dismissal was happening. Probably couldn’t happen to the US President but very believable for an Australian PM

Thanks, Brian. And of course if it couldn’t happen in the US it could never happen. 😉
